Celebration of Our Learning

On Tuesday 28th April we had our own Roman Day. The children had the opportunity to dress up and take part in a variety of activities. They met a ‘real life’ gladiator, learnt about Roman myths, made ravioli and went on a Roman Numerals code hunt. (May 2026)

As part of learning in English, we took part in two activities. One was to create possessive noun phrases using nouns generated by the game. We worked in groups to collect each word and discuss ideas for the possessive noun phrase. The 2nd activity was to sort sentences that used the apostrophe correctly and discuss which did not and why not. (April 2026)

Sleepover - on Friday 17th April, year 3 held a sleepover at school. We enjoyed games outside, popcorn and a movie and got to go to bed late, sleeping in the reception and year 1 classrooms. A fabulous time was had by all and the staff were very impressed by the children's resilience and teamwork. (April 2026)

Maths - We celebrated 'Mud Pi Day' by taking  our maths learning outdoors. We foraged for items to use to make our own clock faces and then used them to practice our telling the time skills.  (March 2026)

Easter Pause Day - We paused to reflect on the Easter Story and what Easter means to Christians. We used natural resources to create symbols and retell key parts of the Easter Story in our own Easter gardens. (March 2026)

Science - we have been investigating forces and how magnets attract and repel. (March 2026)

Computing - Year 3 learnt about branching databases and asked closed questions to create their own. (March 2026)

In Geography we have been learning about different biomes around the world. We then created our own biomes out of different resources. (February 2026)

In English, Year 3 have been writing their own information texts about different types of homes around the world.  (February 2026)

Year 3 had two visitors to talk about how they practice Islam, give them an insight into the importance of prayer and what that means to Muslims. They also explained what visiting a mosque is like and why the mosque can be important for many different reasons. (February 2026)

In DT this week we have been using differing sewing techniques to make our very own cushions. (February 2026)

Pelicans class celebrated the end of half term with 'Pelicans Got Talent' and wowed each other with their musical, sporting, and comedy skills. It was lovely to see such promise and camaraderie. (February 2026)

Year 3 investigating reflection and how light travels - writing secret messages and positioning multiple mirrors (January 2026)

Earth Hour (November 2025)

Road safety – Year 3 had a morning of specialist road safety training and then made posters to explain their learning. (November 2025)

Bronze Age Weaving – We explored the technologies used in the Bronze Age and then created our own piece of weaving. (November 2025)

Harvest loaf – A small group of Year 3 pupils made a harvest loaf and presented it to David and Emma during the harvest service. (November 2025)

Maths journaling – Year 3 showing their understanding of multiplication and a range of different methods. (November 2025)

Butser Farm visit – on 14th November Year 3 visited Butser Farm as part of their Stone Age History topic. (November 2025)

Science – the children have been finding out how fossils are formed. (November 2025)
