JEDI
What is JEDI?
At Potters Gate Primary School, JEDI stands for Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. These values shape the way we learn, play and grow together. We believe every child is unique and deserves to feel safe, respected and celebrated. Our differences make us stronger and we work hard to create a school where everyone belongs.
Why is JEDI important to us?
Our motto says it all: “Everyone different. Every equal.” We want every child to know that who they are matters. By embracing diversity and inclusion, we help children develop kindness, empathy and a sense of fairness that will stay with them for life. At Potters Gate, we do not just talk about these values, we live them every day.
What does JEDI look like at Potters Gate?
Our JEDI group is made up of Year 6 children who take the lead in spreading the importance of justice and fairness throughout the school. They help to make sure every voice is heard and every child feels included. Alongside this, our Diversity Designers Club gives children the chance to express creativity making a JEDI Newsletter. We are excited to launch a Sign Language Club which will help our community communicate in new and inclusive ways. Throughout the year we celebrate global events and awareness days, opening windows to the world for our pupils. Our classrooms and libraries offer books that reflect a wide range of voices and experiences so every child can see themselves and others in the stories they read.
JEDI Top picks!
At Potters Gate, we’re lucky to have access to a wonderful selection of books. Every fortnight, our JEDIs carefully choose and deliver books to each class, giving every child the chance to explore new stories. These books aren’t just for individual reading—they’re meant to be shared, discussed, and enjoyed together, helping to spark curiosity and a love of reading across our school community.
